Pores and Skin: My long and bumpy journey to healthy skin.

Within the last 3-4 months I have been become more and more obsessed with makeup. This obsession sprang from my stalker-like following of a YouTube beauty guru, Vintage or Tacky. The founder, Cora, is amazingly witty, gorgeous, and a plus size gal like myself. With the hours spent watching her channel, I have learned soooo much about my skin and it’s limits/potential. Even though makeup can do wonders you have to start with a healthy canvas which brings me to one of the themes of this blog post. MY SKIN IS AND HAS BEEN A HOT MESS for an embarrassingly long time.

As a teenager, I had acne. It wasn‘t horrible but it was problematic and annoying. As I grew up my skin/acne go better but my pores remained the bane of my existence. They are huge, uncloggable, and unsightly. I’ve even had people say to they wish they could pop all of them. As an adult, I’ve used Proactiv, Clean & Clear, Clearasil, Neutrogena, and Cetaphil.  Nothing clears out my pores enough and most of the products I’ve used have dried out my combination skin or given me a rash. I was at my wits end until I hung out with a friend this past Friday and she told me about Olay Regenerist Detoxifying Pore Scrub Face Wash. She said she had dealt with the same problem and that Olay had done the trick for her ghastly pores. So with my friend’s advise and Cora’s tips/tricks, I’ve started a new skin regiment. I know (now) skin care doesn’t stop after puberty and I feel fully armed to beat my skin into submission. I’m going to be chronically my skin’s progress.

My new routine is as follows:

Morning:

Cleanse: Olay Fresh Effects Shine Minimizing Cleanser

Moisturize: CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion

Evening:

Makeup Removal (if applicable): Clean and Clear Makeup Dissolving Foaming Cleanser
Cleanse: Olay Regenerist Detoxifying Pore Scrub Face Wash
Moisturize: CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion
